THE waiting will be over for thousands of music lovers this weekend, with the start of Cornbury Festival.

The festival takes over the scenic Cornbury estate, near Charlbury, for Saturday and Sunday.

While lovers of rock, folk and pop will be looking forward to the likes of Paul Simon, Crowded House, KT Tunstall, The Bangles and The Epstein, younger festival-goers will also be well catered for, with guest appearances from such superstars as the Mr Men and Postman Pat.

The childhood icons are the main attractions in the festival's first dedicated children's area - The Family Zone.

Family Zone spokesman Hana Charlesworth said: "This isn't any ordinary children's play area. Throughout the weekend a variety of fantastic acts will be performing in the big top to entertain the little ones - from Mr Men to Postman Pat, all new kids band FUNtastic! and a disco especially for babies.

"Over the course of the weekend, children can come and meet Postman Pat, Little Miss Chatterbox, Mr Nosy and Mr Rude, who will all be reading their latest stories.

FUNtastic! Meanwhile, are a collective with a contemporary take on children's classics, who will take to the stage to perform a range of hits.

There will also be painting, drawing, face painting and as much fun and dancing as you can stand!
