Cornbury Festival director Hugh Phillimore shares his tips for this weekend's festival...

THIS weekend 14,000 people will descend on the lovely grounds of Great Tew Park for the 10th anniversary of the Cornbury Festival.

To mark its first decade, festival director Hugh Phillimore has assembled a wish list of artists who have previously graced its stages.

With so much on offer, we asked Hugh for his tips on making the most of it all...

  • Top act: “That is a hard one. I love Squeeze, Amy Macdonald, Van Morrison, and Tift Merritt, but I’d have to say Imelda May. She’s got a new album out and is singing really well.”
  • Top eat: “I like the deep-fried halloumi and gourmet burgers. We’ve also got a new fish and chips stall. But the best and longest-serving stall is the Goan Fish Curry.”
  • What to bring: “Wet wipes... and ear plugs!” n What to buy: “The festival CD. We record 99 per cent of the acts and this a great way to remember the festival.”
  • Biggest star: “It’s nice to get Van Morrison back. He’s one of the originals and he’s on great form.”
  • Biggest VIP: “We’ve had the Prime Minister and Royals in the past.”
  • Best new attraction: “The Festival of Words presented by QI. QI was created by John Lloyd and John Mitchinson in the village, so it’s great to see it coming back to Great Tew.”
