The number of people on unemployment benefit in Oxfordshire rose sharply last month, according to official figures. Those claiming Jobseeker's Allowance rose from 3,813 to 3,893 as the so-called claimant count saw its biggest jump nationally in more than 15 years during June.
The national figure rose by 15,500 to 840,100, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
This was the biggest monthly rise since December 1992 and the fifth consecutive rise in the claimant count, the ONS said.
May's figures showing a 9,000 rise were also revised sharply higher, giving a total of 14,300 new claimants during the month.
