MYSTERY surrounds the sudden closure of the Ripples Bathroom showroom in Oxford.
The showroom, one of 15 UK Ripples franchises, moved from Summertown to Holyoake Road, Headington, last year. But it closed without warning towards the end of last month, having operated in Summertown for about ten years.
The franchise for the showroom, together with another in Cheltenham, was run by Ken and Jean Sewell.
Juliet Harris, a spokeswoman for Ripples, said the company had terminated the Sewells’ contract. She alledged that the couple had not maintained the high standards expected. She was unable to elaborate further.
She said: “We have had no notification from K&J Sewell Ltd on whether they intend to continue trading under their own company name or if they intend to close the company, although I can confirm the showroom has remained closed and we have had no notification of administraor details.”
The Oxford Times was yesterday unable to contact Mr and Mrs Sewell. Customers wanting help are being dealt with by the Henley shop. They should call head office in Bath, 01225 335111.
