SCHOOL leavers looking for a stepping stone into the workplace are being urged to visit a one-stop shop offering advice and information on apprenticeships.
The Apprentice Shops will open on and around GCSE and A-Level results days and give young people the opportunity to learn about apprenticeships.
The events will also offer advice and support for employers interested in taking on apprentices.
Elle Chilvers, pictured, completed an apprenticeship with Oxfordshire County Council recently which led to a permanent job with the authority’s Early Intervention Service.
Ms Chilvers, 21, said: “It would have been really helpful to have more information about apprenticeships while at school. There are lots of options out there and doing an apprenticeship is a really good way to get started in a company. Hopefully by taking the information out in the community it will reach more young people.”
The Apprentice Shops will be held today and tomorrow at the Flashop in Mill Street, Wantage; August 15 and 16 at the Westgate Shopping Centre, Oxford and on August 22 and 23 at the Castle Quay Shopping Centre, Banbury.
