Heavy traffic in Oxford leaves two bus services cancelled

First published in News

OXFORD Bus company has cancelled two of its bus services between the train station and the John Radcliffe Hospital.

Buses scheduled for 5.15pm and 6pm would not operate, the company said on Twitter, because of heavy traffic in the city centre.

The service affected is the X3.

Traffic remains heavy near the station and on Botley Road as well as along Hythe Bridge Street and Beaumont Street.

So why does Go-Ahead/Oxford Bus think all bus passengers use eiher Twatter or Arsebook? What we need are more bus stops with realtime information clearly shown - though due to Coalition cutbacks and the usual 'no funding' answer from Oxfordshire County Council, many well-used bus stops don't have the real time displays connected - even when the system actually works! Nor do all buses have the transponders fitted, to send back realtime information. As for trying to pgone the bus companies, don't bother in the evenings or sundays!

If they thought the traffic was bad on Friday ... In the coming week the Frideswide work starts, schools go back. .. and the following week there's St Giles Fair. Gridlock is a fair assumption.
