A Burford pub has been given the go ahead to install nine hanging signs.
Greene King was given planning permission by West Oxfordshire District Council to erect the four lit and five other signs outside the Golden Pheasant Hotel in High Street. They will carry the company’s name. The Burford and District Society objected to the application for the Grade II listed building, saying “no illuminated hanging signage is acceptable” in a conservation area.
Burford Town Council was also concerned that mounting letters on to the building would damage it. The district council’s uplands area planning sub-committee approved the application on Monday.
