M40 death a mystery

A driver was found dead inside his car on the central reservation of the M40 – a week after the crash is thought to have happened.

Officers were called on Tuesday, April 12, to reports of a black Astra between junctions 11 and 12. The body of a man in his 40s was found.

Police investigators now think the Vauxhall crashed at around 4.20am on Tuesday, April 5.

In an appeal for any witnesses and drivers with dash-cam footage, lead investigator PC Charlie Etheridge, of the Joint Operations Road Policing Unit said: “We are appealing for any witnesses, or motorists who may have dash-cam footage, of the incident to please come forward.

“Although this was reported to us yesterday, we believe it may have happened at around 4.20am on 5 April.

“Anyone who has information or dash-cam footage can make a report by calling 101 or via our website, quoting reference 43220157746.”

The man’s next of kin have been informed.

Didcot brawl

A massed brawl broke out in Abbott Road, Didcot, involving multiple people - possibly using weapons.

The incident happened at around 4.35pm on Saturday, April 9.

No one was injured in the altercation, Thames Valley Police said.

Arson attacks

Officers in Banbury are investigating a series of arson attacks in the Ruscote and Hardwick area.

The incidents happened overnight between Wednesday, April 13 and Thursday, April 14.

Writing on social media, Banbury police officers asked any witnesses to email sarah.nash@thamesvalley.police.uk.

“Please can residents check any CCTV systems?” the officers added.

E-scooter flashers

A group e-scooter-riding teen boys pulled down their underwear and flashed a group of young girls outside The Range.

The incident happened outside the high street shop on Cherwell Street, Banbury, on Saturday, April 9, at 5.15pm.

All three boys were around 13 to 15 years old. They wore dark-coloured bottoms and hoodies. One had red lettering over his hoodie.

The girls were aged just eight to 13, police said.

PC Molly Grant, based at Banbury police station, said: “I am appealing for anyone with information about this incident to please get in touch.

“Any information from the public would be appreciated, as the victims were no longer at the scene when officers attended."

Card fraud

The man in this picture may have ‘vital’ information that could lead officers to a fraudster who tried to use another’s bank card, police said.

Thames Valley Police said attempts were made to fraudulently use a bank card in Vodafone, Cornmarket, at 2pm on April 4.

PC Sophie Stubberfield, based at St Aldates police station, said: “We would like to appeal to anybody who recognises the man in this image to please get in touch as we believe he may have information in connection with this incident. 

“You can get in touch by either making a report online or by calling 101 quoting reference number 43220154444.

“Alternatively, for 100% anonymity, you can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

Wetherspoons flasher

A woman in her teens was asked by a drinker at the Penny Black Pub on Sheep Street, Bicester, to pick something up beneath his table at around 2.20pm on Wednesday, April 6.

As she went to pick the item up, another customer warned her not to as the man was exposing himself beneath the table.

Police said the man was white, aged 40 to 50, around 5ft 10ins tall, stocky with short grey hair.

He was wearing a green puffer jacket, white shirt, a blue polo jumper and jeans.

Neglected horse found

A horse had been so badly neglected it had to be put down.

Police were called to a field off the A4130 near the Milton Interchange, Didcot, on April 6.

Officers found a horse in what they described as a ‘poor, physical condition’.

Because the horse was so sick, a vet was called the scene. It was decided that the horse’s suffering was so bad it had to be put down.

Thames Valley Police said officers had launched an investigation into why the horse was left neglected for so long.
