Police have launched an investigation after officers found a neglected horse.

Thames Valley Police were called to a field off the A4130 near the Milton Interchange in Didcot, last week.

Officers found the horse in what they describe as a "poor, physical condition".

Because the horse was so sick, a vet was called the scene. It was decided that the horse was suffering so much that it had to be put down.

Thames Valley Police is now investigating why it was left in such a bad condition for so long, under the Animal Welfare Act 2006.

Anybody who has information, who hasn't already contacted the force, should call police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting the reference 1256 (6/4).
