A VERY large group of caravans - accompanied by horses and dogs - have appeared at yet another Oxford park-and-ride.

It is the fourth time this year travellers have set up at Oxford Parkway and the connected Water Eaton car park in Kidlington.

The illegal encampment follows problems at Pear Tree park-and-ride, which had around 20 caravans in its car park this weekend.

One reader said he'd counted 'nearly 90' caravans in the latest group at Oxford Parkway.

The Oxford Parkway car park was also taken over by caravans in February for three weeks and again in September, by travellers who said they were just ‘passing through’.

In October, meanwhile, around 20 caravans set up at the site.

Pictures taken on Monday morning by The Oxford Mail show a similar number of caravans, which are believed to have arrived over the weekend.

The convoy also includes a horse and at least one dog.

As well as the Oxford Parkway and Peear Tree, there are another group of travellers on an Oxford recreation ground normally used as a school sports field. Watch the video here

Oxford County Council, which runs Water Eaton park-and-ride, said it was aware of the situation.

A spokesman added: "Oxfordshire County Council visited this morning and have commenced the legal procedure with the County Court."

In February, the authority had to go to court to force a group of 20 caravans to move on from the car park.

Oxford Bus Company announced last week it would not be stopping at Pear Tree park and ride after children 'ran into the path' of buses and travellers harassed drivers.

One Twitter user said they had also seen 'kids running between cars' at the Oxford Parkway car park.

Addressing Oxford Bus Company, they added: "For safety I'd refuse to serve inside like they did at Pear Tree until they've gone."

In a response the bus company said it was 'monitoring the situation'.

A spokesperson for Chiltern Railways, which runs Oxford Parkway, said the company was in discussion with the Oxfordshire County Council about the situation.
