A DECADE ago a project was launched in Witney to help people with walking problems to get around the town more easily.
The free-to-hire wheelchair and scooter scheme, called Witney Shopmobility, is celebrating its 10th birthday tomorrow with an open day at its Langdale Gate office.
Staff will be handing out mince pies, tea and coffee to regular clients and people interested in taking advantage of the scheme.
Jackie Pitts, from Filkins, has been a client of the service for many years.
She said: “The scooters are so easy to use and I no longer have to struggle to get around Witney — it has given me a new lease of life. I hope lots of people will come to the open day and see how it all works for themselves.”
Witney Shopmobility is open Mondays, Wednesday, Thursdays and Fridays from 9.30am until 4.15 pm.
