OXFORDSHIRE stayed at the summit of NCCA T20 Group 4 after a win and a defeat against Wales NC at Wormsley.

The hosts claimed a 34-run victory in the first match, before losing the second fixture by eight wickets.

Oxon are level on points with Bedfordshire, but remain top on net run rate.

The visitors struck early after winning the toss for the first game, reducing their opponents to 13-2 by dismissing Harrison Ward and Tom Cosford.

Oxon stabilised and Marcus Campopiano top-scored with 51 (46), before he was removed with his side on 100 in the 17th over.

Captain Jonny Cater contributed a useful 33 (31) to help his side close on 132-7.

Joe Thomas claimed two early scalps as Wales fell to 9-2 in reply, but they recovered and were 61-3 midway through their innings.

The 11th over proved crucial, though, as Harvey Jupp picked up two wickets in four balls to hand Oxon the momentum.

Wales could not get back on track and fell to 98 all out after Rich Edwards was run out in the 17th over.

Oxon won the toss for game two and elected to bat, but struggled to get going.

Cater top-scored with an unbeaten 34 off 30 balls as they only reached 117-6.

In reply, Wales began at a terrific rate and openers Connor Brown and Tom Bevan put on 79 for the first wicket.

The latter was removed for 64 as the visitors closed in, with victory secured in the 16th over.
