OXFORD City conceded three times in eight minutes as they fell to a 4-1 defeat at home to Maidenhead United.

Tobi Sho-Silva saw a couple of efforts miss the target, but the visitors still took the lead after 18 minutes when Sam Beckwith’s shot from the edge of the penalty box found the bottom corner.

The Magpies doubled their lead five minutes later when Sam Barratt finished one-on-one with Jack Bycroft after the Hoops were slack in possession.

Reece Smith added the third goal after he got in behind when Canice Carroll misjudged a header, allowing Smith to lift the ball over the onrushing Bycroft.

Barratt grabbed his brace with an hour on the clock, with a long-range effort which got the better of Southampton loanee Bycroft.

The Hoops grabbed a consolation goal seven minutes later when Latrell Humphrey-Ewers found the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

The defeat means City remain third from bottom in the Vanarama National League, a point inside the relegation zone.

The Hoops are next in action when they welcome National League South side Chelmsford City in the third round of the FA Trophy on Saturday.
