ROSS Jenkins was pleased with the physical test his Oxford City players went through in their pre-season draw with Brackley Town.

The Hoops took the lead against their Vanarama National League North opponents after 10 minutes courtesy of a long-range strike by Lewis Coyle.

Brackley equalised just before half-time when Wes York headed home, with neither side able to find a winner in the second period.

City head coach Jenkins gave starts to new signings Klaidi Lolos and Aaron Williams-Bushell, while Tom Harrison and Lewis Miccio were both given just under half an hour from the bench.

Jenkins said: “It was a tough game, Brackley are very structured, they play some good football and they’re very tough to beat.

“Overall I thought it was quite an even game, it was really important that our boys got the minutes in their legs.

“It’s really important we build our minutes up gradually so that when we go into the first game of the season, we should be ready to go.

“On purpose, we didn’t want to change our team too much. It was a good test that they brought a few bodies on at half-time because it meant we had to work a bit harder, that was beneficial to us.”

Goals from Henry Landers, Jack Stevens and Ben Acquaye secured a 3-0 win for Banbury United at home to North Leigh.

Kidlington beat Shrivenham 1-0 thanks to a Tom Moore goal, while a Dan West free kick saw Thame United draw 1-1 with Southall.

Didcot Town won 2-1 at Thatcham Town on Friday night, with Andi Noka and Joe Greene grabbing the goals.
