KARL Robinson was impressed with his Oxford United’s second half performance against AFC Wimbledon, in particular the speed with which they played at.

The U’s carved out chances to win the game against their Sky Bet League Two opposition, with Cameron Brannagan having a penalty saved in the second period.

Robinson was effusive in his praise of United’s turnover pace in the second 45 minutes.

He said: “A lot of people will say we haven’t scored but we created three or four really good chances, I was impressed with a lot of what I’ve seen in the second half.

“The first half it was hot and the pitch was slow, it was that methodical first half but in the second, I thought we turned the notch up a little bit and looked a really good team.

“All in all, it was a half decent performance.

“Stuart Findlay was outstanding, Marcus McGuane looked like an absolute beast.

“That final ball wasn’t quite there, but they’re the things that come last in pre-season.”

On debutant Yanic Wildschut, who was subbed off with a hamstring complaint, Robinson said: “The Yanic thing is going to throw a lot of people but he said to me in there, he’s only been injured twice before in his career.

“He’s a robust type of player but when you get pushed and you have no control, the vulnerability to that is always going to be suspect.”
