MARK West is relishing the challenge as Thame United aim to beat Oxford United and reach their first Oxfordshire Senior Cup final in 20 years.

The clubs meet in the last four of the competition at Court Place Farm tonight (7.45pm).

U’s head coach Karl Robinson has suggested his line-up will include some senior players, after a young side edged out Kidlington 3-2 in the quarter-finals.

West hopes that will be the case as the Pitching In Southern League Division 1 Central outfit look to progress to their first final since 2002.

The Thame manager said: “It’s nice to be in the semi-final to start with.

“It would be lovely if he puts a few of the first-teamers out and nice for our lads to play in front of a few people.

“The lads have got nothing to lose.”

United’s XI is set to include senior players who have lacked minutes in Sky Bet League One, along with young prospects like Tyler Goodrham, Leon Chambers-Parillon and January signing Oisin Smyth.

Thame are seventh in Division 1 Central, but West reckons the Senior Cup is their best chance of success.

He said: “This is probably what we’ve got to play for.

“The boys have done brilliantly to get where we are.

“It would be lovely to have a cup final to look forward to at the end of the season.”

The other semi-final is also at Court Place Farm, as Oxford City take on North Leigh on March 29.
