GATLIN O’Donkor scored on debut as Oxford City thrashed Tonbridge Angels 5-0, WRITES GEORGE RICKWOOD.

The 17-year-old striker’s loan from Oxford United was announced an hour before kick-off and he marked his first start with a goal.

Josh Ashby’s double and efforts from Joe Iaciofano and Ewan Clark completed the rout as City stayed third in Vanarama National League South.

The hosts’ task was made easier when Tonbridge goalkeeper Jonathan Henly was sent off for handling outside the penalty area after just ten minutes.

Ashby fired the resulting free-kick past centre back Jamie Fielding, who took the gloves.

The midfielder repeated the trick seven minutes later, finding the top corner from another set-piece.

Ashby had the chance to complete an unlikely hat-trick just before the break, but he lifted his effort over the crossbar after George Harmon took the ball around the makeshift keeper.

City continued to try to add to their advantage after the interval with a series of chances. Fielding parried a Iaciofano effort straight to Ashby, who hit the woodwork before Clark’s found the keeper gloves.

The last-ditch defending could not hold out for too long however, as debutant O’Donkor unleashed an effort into the bottom corner.

Harmon rolled the ball across the six-yard box for Iaciofano to lift over a sprawling Fielding for the fourth goal.

And the left back picked up another assist in stoppage-time as Clark nodded in his cross to open his account for City.

Banbury United moved 20 points clear at the top of Pitching In Southern League Premier Central with a 2-1 win at nearest rivals Rushall Olympic.

Jack Stevens and Chris Wreh scored either side of half-time after the hosts took an early lead.

The victory was overshadowed by the behaviour of a minority of Puritans fans, with some letting off smoke bombs.
