BLACKPOOL have submitted a last-minute bid to sign Cameron Brannagan before the transfer window shuts tonight, according to reports.

Football Insider claims the Sky Bet Championship club have made an improved offer to Oxford United for their top January target.

The Oxford Mail understands this is more than the bid Blackpool submitted earlier in the window, thought to be north of £500,000, but still six figures.

Blackpool also reportedly attempted to use Jordan Thorniley as a makeweight in a player plus cash deal, before recalling the centre back from his season-long loan at the Kassam Stadium last Monday.

It comes after Brannagan reaffirmed his commitment to the U’s following his incredible display against Gillingham on Saturday, when he scored four penalties in a 7-2 win.

He said: “My focus is fully on here and that’s all it’s ever been.

“I’m under contract, I absolutely love it here, I love the fans coming to support us like they do.

“I’m happy, so why would I want it to change?

Blackpool made a similar approach late in the summer transfer window and submitted another bid earlier this month.

But the offer was significantly below the seven-figure buyout clause in Brannagan’s contract, which runs until summer 2023.

The Seasiders had appeared to cool their interest, especially with Peterborough United midfielder Ollie Norburn and AFC Bournemouth youngster Gavin Kilkenny reportedly on their radar.
