OXFORD United’s treatment room may be emptying, but for Karl Robinson the selection issues in the final ten games will be simple.

Having left a frantic February behind, the schedule is far more straightforward between now and May.

And it is now that Robinson’s shuffling of the pack so far this season comes to an end.

“I think it gets to that ten game period where you almost settle (on an XI),” he said.

“We did it last year, where we felt the rotations we did gave us a little bit more of an impetus going towards the back end of the season.

“If you keep winning, you keep the shirt.

“Every now and again there might be a slight twist to the formation that might throw a spanner in the works, but it’s keep your shirt (time) now.”

He added: “It’s a fantastic place to be and we’re in a very lucky situation moving into the last ten games of the season.”

Providing there are no new fitness issues to emerge from the trip to Shrewsbury Town tomorrow, next week would see Malachi Napa as the only senior player unavailable.

Ben Woodburn and John Mousinho are both due to be part of the travelling party in Shropshire, although both will have to wait seven days before they are in the matchday 18.

It is not a bad time to be getting stronger, as United line up on the home straight in the Sky Bet League One promotion race.

A run of four straight wins has got them in the mix, but Robinson pointed out they are not the only side to be hitting their stride heading into March.

He said: “I think if you look at the form guide, the top six on that are the top six in the table.

“It’s not just us winning, it’s everyone around us as well.

“When you’re trying to stay in leagues, if you win one or two games it propels you away from trouble.

“But when you win a couple and you’re challenging at the top you don’t move anywhere, because everyone around you is winning as well.”

Having clawed their way back into the top six with a hard-fought win over Southend United last Saturday, United were kicked out by Fleetwood Town’s midweek victory.

But Robinson’s men are concentrating on an internal target.

At the beginning of February they divided the final 18 games into six blocks of three, with a points goal for each.

And despite being outside the play-off places as it stands, they are ahead of the game.

The United boss said: “There’s a points tally and we’re ahead of that for the first three blocks, before we’ve even played the last game of block three.

“I think it’s important we keep focusing on what we think is important and take ourselves away from what the league table tells you and the results around us.

“If we focus on what we need to achieve and it’s not enough then we just accept that.

“I’ve been lucky in my career as a manager and an assistant to be promoted twice.

“When we finished second we had to get 91 points.

“We just have to make sure we stay calm and not get too flustered about what’s going on around us.”
