AN Oxfordshire bakery worker is hanging up her apron after three decades to head into a "well-deserved" retirement.

Angela Stephens has worked as a bakery assistant at Nash's Bakery in Bicester since 1996.

The third generation business has five shops, including one in Sheep Street, and runs 25 markets a week.

The bakery is a staple of Bicester, and after celebrating 95 years of business earlier this year, it is believed to be the oldest one in the town.

Described as a "very special member" of the team, the bakery said Ms Stephens has "been much more than a colleague".

"She’s been a friend, a mentor, and part of the heart and soul of Nash’s," it said in a statement on social media.

"When asked what she’s loved most, Angela says it’s been the people – the fantastic team and wonderful customers who’ve made every day special.

"There’s too many favourites to name, but memories to last a lifetime.

"Outside of the bakery, Angela will be keeping busy as part of her beloved choir, Cloud 9 Community Choir as well as spending lots of time with her grandchildren.

"We know she’ll continue to bring joy wherever she goes."

Nash's Bakery thanked Ms Stephens "for everything" and said she will be "truly missed".

"We wish you all the happiness in the world for this next chapter," it added.
