NAZEEM HUSSAIN, 46, of Peppercorn Avenue, Oxford, was convicted of possession of an offensive weapon – an extendable baton – in Quarry Road, Oxford, on October 24, 2022. He was also found to possess an offensive weapon – a samurai sword – in private on October 25. He was given a community order with 80 hours of unpaid work and a three-month curfew. He must pay £414 in costs and surcharge.

MARK HENDRY, 48, of Mill Street, Wantage, pleaded guilty to drug driving a Vauxhall van on the A338 in Wantage on March 30. A blood test showed he had cannabis in his system. He was fined £120, banned from driving for three years and was ordered to pay £133 in costs and surcharge.

KASUN MATHOTAGE, 43, of Finchampstead Road, Wokingham, pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman in Witney on March 1 by beating her. He was fined £323 and ordered to pay £204 in costs and surcharge.

ANDREW ROBINSON, 42, of Stockham Way, Wantage, pleaded guilty to assaulting a man by beating him. He received a 12 month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay £111 in costs and surcharge.

HEINI WHITE, 49, of Cherwell Close, Abingdon, pleaded guilty to harassment of a man between January 1 and February 15 by sending unwanted emails. White received a community order with a mental health treatment requirement and was handed a restraining order preventing contact with the victim for two years. The magistrates also ordered £199 to be paid in costs and surcharge.

ADAM OWEN, 37, of Bartlemas Road, Oxford, pleaded guilty to a dozen counts of shoplifting alcohol from Tesco in Cowley. He was given a community order with an 18 month ban from the Tesco Express in Cowley Road. Owen must also pay £94.80 in compensation.

CHRISTIAN MOONEY, 32, of Farmers Hotel, Warminster, admitted drug driving a DAF box van on the A34 while over the limit for cannabis, in possession of the class B drug and while using his mobile phone. He was caught on the A34 southbound near the Pear Tree junction on March 23. He was fined a total sum of £829 and banned from driving for three years. He must also pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £332 victim surcharge, which funds services to support victims of crime.

JOSHUA PITTER, 24, of Northcourt Road, Abingdon, admitted breaching a restraining order by contacting a woman via text message and social media, and meeting her on two occasions. The offences were committed in Abingdon in August and September, court documents said. The justices imposed a community order with 80 hours of unpaid work, up to 15 probation sessions and a requirement he complete a mental health treatment programme. He was ordered to pay £199 in costs and surcharge.
