Tesco has apologised to its shoppers after their shelves were left empty after a "technical issue" at their Bicester store.

Shoppers took to social media to express their anger after turning up to the store on Lakeview Drive to find the fridges not working.

Earlier this month, the supermarket had to throw away its food after the fridges were not working for at least 36 hours.

The store also experienced fridge issues when a power cut struck in June.

A Facebook group, named Tesco Fridges (Bicester), has also been set up by shoppers to keep each other up to date on the status of the fridges.

The group description reads: "A community group where people can discuss the current status of refrigerator provisions at the Tesco superstore on Lakeview Drive, Bicester."

A Tesco spokesperson said: “The fridges at our Bicester Superstore are back up and running as normal after a brief technical issue this morning, and our colleagues are refilling the shelves as quickly as possible.

"We're sorry for any inconvenience caused."
