Shoppers were left high and dry after a large supermarket had to turn off its fridges and throw away its food amid technical issues.

From around 9am on Saturday, July 29, several of the fridges in the Tesco on Lakeview Drive, Bicester, were not working for at least 36 hours.

Disgruntled shopper Colin Martin said at the time: “Pretty much all the fridges at Tesco are out of action again, so no meat at all, or butter or pizza.

“The only fridge working had milk and cheese in it.”

Some shoppers were complaining yesterday (Monday, July 31) at around 3pm, saying the fridges were still not working.

One Tesco customer said: “They haven’t been working since Saturday, if not before.

"It’s time for Tesco to get a grip and just replace them rather than trying to keep repairing them, which seems temporary at best.

“I only come across this problem in Bicester. I’m sure it happens elsewhere but not as frequently.”

A Tesco spokeswoman said: “We’re really sorry for the recent technical issues with some of the fridges at our Bicester superstore.

“The fridges are now back up and running, and our colleagues are working hard to get product back on the shelves as quickly as possible.”

The Tesco also experienced fridge issues, having to throw away produce, when a power cut struck in June.
