A Cherwell Cats Protection spokesman said: “While this is very shocking, this is becoming an increasingly common story across the UK as a consequence of the cost-of-living crisis.

“We encourage people to get in touch if they need assistance, neutering or rehoming their cats.”

The Trussell Trust is operating food banks across the country and the one in Bicester is supported by the Blue Cross.

People can donate pet food to the Blue Cross shop on Bicester high street.

The kittens are not yet available for adoption.
