A man suffered a broken leg and ligament damage to his knee after he was assaulted at a steam engine rally last weekend.

The victim, 27, was injured by two men at Stoke Row Steam Rally in South Oxfordshire, with the incident of grievous bodily harm taking place inside and outside the beer tent.

He was treated at hospital and has since been discharged.

Police have appealed for information on the assault, which took place between 10pm and midnight on Saturday, June 10.

Both the suspects are described as white men in their mid-30s and of muscular build.

The first is described as about 5ft 10ins tall with slicked back blonde hair, cut close on the sides.

The second is about 6ft tall with scruffy short hair, shaved on the sides and back and longer on top.

Investigating officer, detective constable Peter Coals said: “There were several hundred people in the vicinity of the beer tent at the time of the assault, therefore there will be a number of witnesses.

The steam rally is an annual event that takes place in Whitchurch Hill, near Goring, and features vehicle parades, marching bands, re-enactment groups and tractor rides.
