MICHAEL VEDRAL, 20, of Copland Close, Basingstoke, admitted using disorderly behaviour at Abingdon police station custody suite, but was found guilty of assaulting a man in Oxford. Both offences were committed on January 29, 2022. Two days earlier, on January 27, he was in possession of a lock knife in Wootton Road, Abingdon. He received four months’ imprisonment suspended for a year, with the court record noting the custodial sentence was justified because Vedral ‘was in possession of a bladed article on one day and hit a man hard in an entirely unprovoked attack on another day’. The magistrates ordered he pay £300 in compensation, with the penalty for the disorderly behaviour increased as Vedral had used ‘homophobic’ language. He must pay £250 in costs to the CPS.
