Readers have commented on a Facebook post put out by this newspaper asking 'what is the worst road to drive on in Oxford?'

There was no road in particular that emerged with the most votes, but many commenters had negative things to say about the collective network.

Cowley Road, the A40 from Eynsham, St Clement's Street and Iffley Road were all mentioned.

Holywell Street, as it runs past New College, Field Avenue and Frieze Way were also put forward as suggestions for the worst road.

The latter was even described as "the cheapest rollercoaster in the country" in one light-hearted response by Andrew Willoughby.

But many did not single out a particular road in their comments.

One reader Graham Knibbs said: “Most of the roads are a disgrace.

"Thankfully I only visit infrequently nowadays, but the roads are abysmal and together with the LTNs render Oxford’s road network a complete mess.”

Kevin West added: “Take your pick. No matter which road is chosen it’s either stuffed due to the LTNs or do full of potholes it’s like driving on a dirt track.”

Emily Holden suggested the bypass from Abingdon Road towards Sainsbury’s on Heyford Hill is the worst stretch of road, and Michelle Barber thinks Field Avenue is the worst.

What do you think is the worst road to drive on in Oxford?
