A CLASSIC car who belonged to a young woman who died of cancer is being sold off in a silent auction to raise money for charity.
Lizzie Mawer, who was in her thirties, sadly passed away from cancer a few years ago. She was a big lover of vintage cars and owner her own emerald green Nissan Figaro.
Ms Mawer’s father, Kirk, has since decided to sell his daughters car in raise money for The Compassionate Friends (TCF), an organisation to help bereaved family members parents who have suffered the death of a child.

The silent auction will be taking place at The Figaro Shop, based in Broadway, Didcot on Friday, January 27.
A spokesperson for Didcot shop said: “We were hugely saddened to hear of the passing of one of our customers, Lizzie, who had trusted us to look after her beloved Figaro.
“A vibrant young woman who had had a very full and active life, including living in Australia for a while, Lizzie loved her Figaro.
“Like many owners, it brought a smile to her face, and she enjoyed being a member of the Figaro Owners’ Club.
“Her father, Kirk Mawer, recently contacted us to let us know they now intend to sell her Figaro and, with real generosity, donate the proceeds of the sale to The Compassionate Friends.”
The charity helped the Mawer family after Ms Mawer’s death. Mr Mawer said he particularly benefitted from the TCF’s ‘Grief Companion’ initiative.

They are individuals who have also suffered a loss but are already at least three years bereaved. Their role is to offer informal support and friendship.
The pre-sale service of Ms Mawer’s Figaro, which has 85,000 km on the clock, was free of charge followed by a complimentary MOT from Draycott Engineering.
The car was also be sold by the shop for free on behalf of the family with 100 per cent of the proceeds of the sale going to TCF.
A spokesperson for the shop added: “We really want this Figaro to be a legacy to Lizzie and hope that a new lease of life is given to this car with a new owner, whilst raising money for a great cause.
“Lizzie’s family would love to see someone else being brought the happiness of Figaro ownership, and at the same time benefitting TCF. It seems like a fitting way to remember her.”

The auction will be open for emailed bids to our Business Manager, Christian Brooks, for 24 hours on Friday, January 27.
