POLICE have released a photograph of the horrific injuries inflicted by a man since jailed for seven years for the brutal attack in Banbury.

Jonathan Stear, 39, of no fixed abode, got into an argument with a man in Middleton Road in the early hours of April 29 this year.

Stear then attacked the victim, a 54-year-old man, leaving him with serious injuries.

Oxford Mail:

Thames Valley Police were called to the scene by the South Central Ambulance Service and Stear was arrested inside a nearby property.

He was then charged with the offence the following day. He pleaded guilty to one count of wounding with intent.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Mark Wray, of Banbury CID, said: “This was a senseless attack on a victim who has sustained serious injuries, including a fractured eye socket and broken nose.

“Thames Valley Police responded quickly to the assault, which was reported to us South Central Ambulance Service.

“Stear was arrested at the scene and a blood trail and forensics linked him to the assault.

“I’m pleased that Stear pleaded guilty and has been given a substantial sentenced for this serious offence.”
