OXFORDSHIRE MP said it is ‘urgent’ that stability is restored in Government following the resignation of the Prime Minister after only six weeks.

Liz Truss announced her resignation earlier today (October 20) and MPs across Oxfordshire have been responding to the news.

Conservative MP Robert Courts, who represents Witney and West Oxfordshire, said: “The last few weeks have been among the most unedifying that I have experienced during my time in Parliament.

“We urgently need to restore stability in government, and only then can we begin to repair the damage that the last few weeks have done to public trust in politics.

“I will be doing all I can to ensure that we get the strong, competent leadership required in Number 10 to take our country forward and ensure we deliver the mandate upon which we were elected in 2019.”
