A person was hit by a train near Didcot causing all lines to be closed and delays of up to an hour.

Emergency services scrambled to the stretch between Oxfordshire and Swindon yesterday evening (October 10).

National Rail closed all lines between Didcot Parkway and Swindon, with disruption continuing until 11pm, and some trains being delayed by as much as an hour.

The state of the person hit is currently unknown, but trains were diverted between Reading and Bath Spa.

At the time, a National Rail spokesperson said trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to an hour or diverted between Reading and Bath Spa.

They added that the diverted services would not call at Didcot Parkway, Swindon or Chippenham.
