The Office of National Statistics have released the most popular baby names in England and Wales, but what were the most popular names in Oxfordshire?

A total of 4,525 boys were named Noah and 3,649 girls were named Olivia in England and Wales in 2021, according to the latest data.

While nationally there was a clear trend, in Oxfordshire the results were a little different.

In Oxford, there were two male names that parents favoured. Eleven babies were named Noah in the city, keeping with the national trend, and another 11 were called Theodore.

Both Cherwell and West Oxfordshire saw George come out as the most popular, with 35 babies given the name across the two areas.

Oscar came out on top in South Oxfordshire, with 15 babies given the name.

Parents in Vale of White Horse were different again, with 11 Arlo’s and 11 Arthur’s born in the area in 2021.

In oxford, the most popular female name was Emma, with 10 babies born in the city sharing that name.

Amelia was top of the pile in Cherwell with 15 babies, while Amelia and Olivia tied first place in Vale of White Horse with 13 each.

Ava, Isla and Matilda were joint top in West Oxfordshire with eight each.

One name in particular stood out in South Oxfordshire – Florence. Thirteen babies were given the name.
