Botley Road in Oxford is due to close during the next 12 months so that work can be carried out on the rail bridge.

It has been suggested work could last for several months.

These include Toys R Us, the vast toy store which closed for good in 2018.

Thousands of families visited over the years to pick up the latest toys and games.

The Oxford branch of Toys R Us closed in April, 2018 as closure dates were announced for 75 branches across the country.

In 2020, the new Home Bargains store officially opened at the site of the former toy store.

The retailer invested approximately £13m in its new store.

Home Bargains also donated £2,000 to The Gatehouse, the Oxford charity which supports the homeless.

Jeanie Mining, the new Oxford store manager, said at the time: “I’m delighted to be joining the Home Bargains team as store manager of the new Oxford site.

"Having worked in retail for 25 years, I can honestly say nothing beats the buzz of a brand new store.

“We’re thrilled to be opening our new store in Oxford this Saturday and look forward to welcoming customers through its doors.
