A driver who was found to have no insurance tested positive for cocaine behind the wheel.

Thames Valley Police’s Roads Policing unit pulled over a van on the A4165 in Kidlington yesterday morning (July 23).

The driver admitted to the officers that they had no insurance but further checks by police revealed the driver had a revoked licence.

A drugs wipe also found the driver had cocaine in their system.

Police arrested the driver at the scene.

Under UK law, it is illegal to driver if either:

  • You are unfit to do so because you are on legal or illegal drugs
  • you have certain levels of illegal drugs in your blood (even if they have not affected your driving)

If convicted of drug driving you will get a minimum one year driving ban, an unlimited fine, up to six months in prison, a criminal record.
