A woman who used her phone while driving was spared a disqualification by a court, as she would face ‘exceptional hardship’.

Ashley Hickson, of Rochester Way in Twyford, appeared at Buckinghamshire Magistrates’ Court on July 5.

The court found that on October 20 2021 while driving a vehicle on Bicester Road in Aylesbury she used her mobile phone.

The court spared the 32-year-old a driving disqualification due to the ‘exceptional hardship’ she would face if she was banned.

Court documents stated Hickson’s mitigating circumstances are such that there would be an impact on mother, who she must take care of, and she would likely lose her job resulting in bills and rent being unpaid.

She was fined £127, made to pay a victim surcharge of £34, costs of £110 and was handed six penalty points.
