The family of a motorcyclist who died after a crash last week have paid tribute to him.

25-year old Drew Macauley Simpson, from Witney, died in hospital on Thursday (May 26) after a collision on the A44 near the Duke of Marlborough pub in Woodstock.

Mr Simpson died after he came off his black Yamaha R1 motorcycle while in convoy with other vehicles at around 7.10pm on Wednesday (May 25).

At the time police said he collided with items on the side of the road rather than another vehicle.

He died at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

His family have now released a statement.

The family said: “We as a family are utterly devastated by the loss of our much loved son, brother, grandson, uncle, partner to Trinity and best friend to so many, especially his fur baby Otis, his three legged dog.

“Drew’s generosity knew no bounds, his passion for everything he undertook was admirable and his loyalty was unquestionable.

“Our hearts are broken forever but the outpouring of love in both conversation and messages received by so many has been of great comfort.

“A special heartfelt thank you must go to those first on the accident scene whom gave their all and to the amazing team at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

“All of our beautiful memories of our treasured son will never dilute, he will live on in our hearts for an eternity. Rest easy son, you were a beautiful soul, a real living angel.”

“The collision took place in the early evening, and I am renewing my appeal to anybody who witnessed what happened to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police.

“At this stage, I believe this to have been a single vehicle collision, and I would urge anybody who may have dash-cam footage of the collision, or the moments leading up to the collision to please make contact with us.

“You can do so by making a report online or by calling 101, quoting reference number 43220228268.”
