Senior police officers signed off a dispersal order after reports of ‘minor altercations’ and people scaling buildings, Thames Valley Police said.

The dispersal order gives police officers powers to move on anyone deemed to be acting anti-socially from Bicester town centre. Officers can also seize any item being used to cause a nuisance.

A Thames Valley Police spokeswoman said the order had been signed off after a number of minor altercations, reports of people trying to force entry to premises and climbing on building roofs.

No arrests had been made, she added.

The order is currently expected to end at 8pm on Sunday.

It is not the first time that police have used a dispersal order in response to anti-social behaviour in the town centre.

On New Year’s Eve in 2019, nine youths were handed orders banning them from being in the town centre for 48 hours after reports of trouble.

The previous year, in 2018, ‘a few teenagers’ were accused of ‘spoiling life for the many’ by one councillor.
