DRIVING while using a mobile phone or device is an offence, but three people were caught doing so in Oxford in the last two months.

Here's a list of those who appeared in court and were fined.

1. Gordon Baker, 55, of Gladston Road, Oxford, was caught driving a red Toyota while using his mobile phone Mill Lane in Oxford on June 24 last year.

At Oxford Magistrates' Court on January 11, he was fined £220, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £90.00.

In total, he must pay £344.

2. James Helm, 28, of Jersey Park, Swindon, was caught driving a Volkswagen Transporter while on his mobile phone on Ledgers Close in Littlemore on July 26, 2021.

At Oxford Magistrates' Court on December 21, 2021, he was fined £208 and ordered to pay a surcharge of £34 and costs of £90.

In total, he must pay £332.

3. Jordan Truby, 22, of Hemingway Drive, Bicester was caught driving a vehicle while using a mobile phone on Oxford Road in Kidlington on June 2, 2021.

At Oxford Magistrates' Court on December 7, 2021, he was fined £220, ordered to pay a surcharge of £44.00 and costs of £90.

He was also caught driving while not wearing a seatbelt on the same date and was fined an additional £220.

He must pay a total of £574.
