AN INVESTMENT of just under £320,000 was made to upgrade a sewage treatment plant in South Oxfordshire which serves 57 homes.
The plant, serving addresses in Underhill and North Close in Moulsford, near Wallingford, has been designed to reduce the risk of flooding and provide a more reliable service for the connected properties.
Jane Murphy, ward councillor for Cholsey, including Moulsford parish, said: “I know people living in homes connected to this treatment plant were worried about a potential repeat of previous flooding issues.

“Following the work, I hope they now have peace of mind and that sewerage from these properties continues to be treated properly.”
The investment to modernise the plant system was made by the South Oxfordshire District Council.
It includes two new sewage treatment units, improvements to an existing collection tank, the installation of new pumps and an outfall pipe and widening and resurfacing of the access road.
Councillor Sue Cooper said: “I’m pleased that we have been able to upgrade this sewerage treatment plant.
“The work will ensure that a significant number of homes in the Moulsford area now have an effective long-term sewerage treatment service which is more reliable and safe from flooding.”
This treatment plant is the largest of 12 sewage plants operated by the South Oxfordshire District Council.
