THE owner of a beloved pet parrot which was stolen in a burglary last month says it is a 'miracle' the bird has now been found.

Sarah White, from Tusmore, near Bicester, was devastated to find her 20-year-old parrot Sky had been taken from her house on June 18 along with her grandmother's jewellery.

Now, just over a month later, Sky has been reunited with Ms White thanks to the help of charity Beauty's Legacy.

Ms White said: "It's a miracle. Even the police said it was a slim chance I'd get her back."

Sky was recovered from a property in Bedfordshire on July 21 after it was claimed the occupants had bought her.

Ms White added: "They (occupants of the property) had seen the appeal and contacted us. I knew from the pictures that that they sent that it was Sky.

"We went to recover her and I had a little cry in the car because it was quite emotional, she was really happy to see me and was talking to me."

Ms White said Sky looked fine when she picked her up and did not look as though she had lost any weight.

She smothered the parrot with love spoiling her with her favourite food.

She added: "It's too early to say whether there's any problems with her but she seems totally fine. I've just been trying to get a vets appointment to get her checked over.

"When we got home, I gave her all her favourite food because I doubt she'd been having those. I gave her nuts, vegetables, and all the things that she really likes. She was a very happy bird. She's probably not had a bath so she was able to do that as well.

"It's been nice to hear her voice like this morning when I was going to work she was telling me to 'come on' and ' get going'."

Beauty's Legacy is a charity that helps reunite missing animals with their owners across the UK. It put out appeals online and created banners in the hope that someone would see Sky.

Founder Lisa Dean is glad to see the pair reunited after lots of hard work.

She said: "I'm really happy. I hoped that we'd get her back but she was one of the more challenging ones we've taken on. Everyone has said 'we didn't think you'd get her back'.

"Sarah went above and beyond as an owner, she took all the advice that we gave her and we just didn't take our foot off the pedal and I think that's the secret - it's determination."
