OXFORD has been named the UK's third friendliest city.

A study by Parkdean Resorts reveals the top 50 UK towns and cities with the greatest sense of community.

Parkdean Resorts analysed cities based on how happy residents are, safety, the number of local businesses and community actvities and the number of Facebook groups and pages dedicated to the area.

Oxford came third with a community index score of 341.

Edinburgh was ranked as the friendliest city and Exeter is ranked in second place.

The study found that Oxford scores highly for community activities with 475 available to those looking to make new connections. The city has 775 local businesses and a rating of 7.4 on the happiness scale.

There are also 97 Facebook pages dedicated to the city that opens new residents up to a wealth of opportunities to get involved with the community.
