THAMES Valley Police are appealing for witnesses after six serious incidents across Oxfordshire this week.  

In appeals online, officers have urged anybody witnesses to come forward.

  • Appeal one year on from art heist 

Oxford Mail:

Police made a desperate appeal to find the missing sixteenth-century paintings a year on from one of the highest value art heists the UK has ever seen. 

Detectives reappealed for anybody who saw something suspicious at around 11pm on March 14, 2020 - days before the country was put into lockdown. 

Detectives say the criminals might have got away by boat or could have been mistaken for students packing up and going home.

  • Audi driver goes through red light after hitting motorcyclist 

A teenager was knocked off his motorbike by an Audi driver who went through a red light trying to get away from police. 

At 5.27pm last Sunday, the driver crashed into the 17-year-old before speeding off from the scene on Henley Avenue, at the junction with Iffley Turn. 

The dark blue Audi A4 convertible, that had a partial reg plate of YC05, was found abandoned nearby.

  • Man armed with a plank of wood during Oxford fight 

Oxford Mail:

A man was ‘armed with a plank of wood’ during a fight.

At about 2.20pm on March 10, a fight broke out between two men in Newman Road, between the junction with Oxford Road and Cardinal Close.

During the fight one of the men is believed to have been armed with a plank of wood.

The other man is believed to have punched the rear windscreen of a car nearby.

  • Motorcyclist in hospital after crash in early hours 

Police appealed for witnesses on Wednesday after a crash at the junction of the A4260 and B4027 Banbury Road between Kidlington and Steeple Aston. 

At about 6.30am that morning a white Seat had crashed with an Aprilia motorcycle leaving the driver, a man in his 30s, with serious injuries in hospital.

  • Police looking for the owners of 36 bikes 

The cycles were found when officers searched a house in Abingdon on January 10. 

A 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and has been released under investigation.

  • Attempted rape in Oxford 

Oxford Mail:

A man has charged with the attempted rape of a woman in Oxford. 

Abdul Banaras, 34, of Alice Smith Square in Oxford, was charged last night with one count of attempted rape and one count of assault by penetration.

It comes after a woman in her 50s was sexually assault on Monday afternoon between 3pm and 4.30pm, inside a property in Alice Smith Square. 

Police are urging any witnesses to come forward, specifically a female member of the public who saw a distressed woman between 3pm and 4.30pm in the area.
