WE reported that a missing puppy had been found after he was taken from a car in broad daylight.

Dio Davies said her husband had parked outside of Barclays bank on Chipping Norton High Street last Wednesday at around 12.35pm.

He thought he had locked the car with puppy Milo inside, but when he returned 10 minutes later, he found the four-and-a-half-month-old Dachshund had been taken.

Four days later the puppy was reunited with the Davies after he was found under a car at Kidlington’s Sainsbury’s.

Here’s what you said after the puppy was found:

SANDRA GENE GREGORY: “So pleased this little dog has been reunited with his family.”

JANE SUTHERLAND: “What a sad world we live in though where you can’t walk your dog safely. I would never leave my dog in the car for long but who hasn’t nipped in to pay for their petrol or stopped at a cash point with their dog in the car?

“The penalties for this crime need to be more severe.”

JUNE ABBEY: “Quite often if I need milk or something I’ve forgotten and I’ve got my dog in the car I drive home now and leave him there and lock up and go back out and get it.

“The reason dogs have been stolen is because people are popping into the shops or just nipping to do that and leaving the dogs at risk. Get sensible, get safe. Do not leave your dog in a car at all, or alone in a garden that thieves can access.”

LIN WIGGINS: “I know personally three people who have had dogs stolen. It’s not rare. It’s a very serious problem and action must be taken to punish thieves more severely.”

DOREEN ALDRED: “What a nasty world we live in when you have to carry alarms to keep your dog safe. Time the law stepped in and set up stings to catch these dregs of society and make laws to deter them, or at least think twice before they steal a beloved pet.”

BERNIE KELLY: “Fantastic news. No dog ever should be left unattended. Blackmailing, selling, breeding, fighting, baiting. Every dog has a purpose or price.”

LYNNE JACKSON: “So happy that Milo has been reunited with his owners. No dog is safe being left alone anywhere. Unfortunately, it is a sign of the times.”

CAROLYNE BECKWITH: “The saddest thing is that for years people have been safe tying their dogs up outside shops or leaving them in their cars while they nipped into a shop, but the world has changed dramatically over the last year or so.

“Not everyone is on social media so there are many elderly people who are completely unaware of the risk of losing their pets.”

SAMANTHA HAYS: “They shouldn’t leave their dog in the car in the first place.”

ANN HARRIS: “So glad he has been found safe but, please people - do not leave your dogs unattended in cars, gardens, outside shops or anywhere else. They are an open invitation to dog thieves.

“If you have to leave your dog, leave it at home under lock and key.”

LINDA BRAZIER: “So glad you have your little dog back. I would be devastated if mine went missing. It’s getting to the point where I am too frightened to leave them in the house if I have to go out for fear someone will break in and take them. What a cruel world we live in.”

BOZANA FAULKNER: “Fantastic news. Don’t leave dogs alone in cars or tied up on shops and farms - that’s why they go. I remember the day you could leave your dogs outside.

“Bless them. The dogs must be heartbroken, wondering what’s going on and the owners heartbroken. It's like losing a child."

JENNIFER CROWLEY: “The cost of these dogs is why they are being stolen. So awful and should be justice for these people.”

CAROLE KELLY: “Please don’t leave your dog in the car or outside a shop. It only takes a second for someone to take it.”

NEIL PIPE: “I can never get my head round why people take their dogs shopping when they know dogs can’t go in shops.”
