A TEENAGER has admitted stabbing a man to death with a screwdriver.

Robin Williamson, of Awgar Stone Road, Oxford, was killed in Wood Farm in 2019.

Today at Oxford Crown Court a 17-year-old boy from Milton Keynes, who cannot be named for legal reasons because of his age, has been convicted of manslaughter.

He was due to stand trial later this month however he entered a guilty plea for the lesser charge which was accepted by the prosecution.

It comes after Mr Williamson was attacked on October 27, 2019.

It wasn’t until he went to the hospital on November 4 that the incident was reported to the police.

Six days later, on November 10, at around 4pm doctors at the John Radcliffe Hospital confirmed his death.

In April last year, the cause of death had not yet been established and his inquest was shelved to give police more time to investigate the details.

Today it has been revealed that Mr Williamson died as a result of the screwdriver attack.

A 16-year-old boy from Banbury was also due to stand trial next week but has been acquitted of all charges.

The 17-year-old will be sentenced on March 1 at Oxford Crown Court.

Senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Bosley, said: “Our thoughts, as ever remain with the family and friends of Mr Williamson who tragically lost his life.

“On consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service and with support from the victim’s family, a plea of manslaughter has been accepted.

“The offender in this crime has admitted his involvement in the death of Mr Williamson.

“I would like to thank the family for their support throughout our investigation and I hope that this conviction gives them some closure and solace following the death their loved one.”
