A THUG punched, kicked, and spat at a man when he was walking along the A40.

At around 2.55pm on Monday, the 47-year-old man was heading towards the BP garage in Eynsham when another man passing him threw a bike on the path and started shouting.

He lashed out at the man, punching and kicking him before spitting and then cycling off towards Oxford.

Members of the public stopped to help the man, who was left with injuries to his leg and face that needed treatment at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

The thug is described as white, in his 30s, around 6ft tall and medium build.

He has fair, thinning hair and stubble.

At the time he was wearing a black zip-up hoody, sand-coloured work trousers and boots and was holding a dark coloured pushbike that had a light green carrier bag hanging from the left handlebar.

Investigating officer Sergeant Gary Smales, based at Witney police station said: “I am appealing for anyone with information about this incident or who may have dash-cam footage from driving down the A40 around the time of the incident to come forward.

“I am particularly keen to speak to the members of the public that assisted the victim.”
