OXFORD charity KEEN is helping young disabled people find a friend through its new buddy scheme.

KEEN Buddies is a program that pairs up a young disabled individual and a member of the community so that they can meet up weekly to take part in activities and socialise.

The Oxford charity promotes and encourages inclusion through supporting children and adults with special needs and the new buddies scheme aim to will continue this work.

Due to Coivd restrictions, in-person meet-ups are currently not able to go ahead, however the charity is encouraging virtual socialising on video calls until face-to-face meet-ups are possible again.

The scheme is aimed at young people between age 18-25 and students that are 16-17 can take part through solely virtual participation.

KEEN volunteer Emmy Harries said: “It’s a wonderful opportunity for both parties involved and there’s been a lot of interest from local communities.”
