A CHILD was repeatedly raped and sexually abused in order to pay for another man's drugs habit, a court heard.

Speaking to police about her alleged ordeal she said that the regular abuse made her feel 'dirty.'

She claimed that if she didn't get the man money she feared she would have the 's**t kicked out of me.'

Two men went on trial at Oxford Crown Court yesterday after being charged in connection with the alleged historical sexual abuse.

Anthony Ford, 63, of Fieldmere Close, Witney, denies three counts of rape and one count of attempted rape.

He has admitted another count involving the same alleged victim - indecency with a child.

Leighton James, 36, of Stocks Walk, Carterton, denies one count of procuring a girl under 21 to have unlawful sexual intercourse.

The offences are all alleged to have taken place in the early 2000s in West Oxfordshire.

Outlining the case to a jury prosecutor Isabel Delamere said the victim, now a woman, had been a teenage girl at the time and her ordeal lasted about eight months.

She told jurors: "She admitted she had taken money and for two reasons.

"To make him pay for what he had done and also because of [James.]"

She said that James had 'procured' her for Ford so that he would pay money for sex with the woman, in order to buy drugs.

The alleged victim - who cannot be named for legal reasons - was described as 'vulnerable' and living a 'chaotic lifestyle.'

It was also said that she had been subjected to violence by James.

Jurors went on to watch a recorded police interview the woman gave, detailing what she claimed happened to her.

She described a number of incidents of alleged sexual abuse - included repeated rapes - all involving Ford.

She said that she would usually be paid into her bank account and she described the abuse as 'routine.'

Answering James's involvement she said: "I told him I didn't want to do the things [he] said and he told me if you don't do it I will batter you up.

"He used to give me this look and I would just know if I didn't do what he said I would get the s**t kicked out of me."

She went on to tell police: "I was doing a lot of drugs at the time, I didn't realise what I was doing was that wrong."

The woman said she was using crack cocaine on a daily basis and added: "All I could think about was to stop [James] from hurting me."

Asked how she now felt about the alleged abuse she said: "I hate talking about it because I feel dirty.

"I still feel like I did something wrong, I should have said no, I should have been more forceful.

"I was always scared I was going to get beaten up and that's the reason why I did it."

Both of the men deny the charges against them.

The trial - which is expected to last about six days - continues.
