TWO teenagers have been arrested after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed in Oxford.

Thames Valley Police had a section 60 order authorised for New Barton, the area to the north of the Northern Bypass and Northway, Headington, after a violent robbery.

The victim was stabbed and had his mobile phone stolen from him at 6.50pm on Sunday.

He was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

As part of the investigation into the incident, a section 60 order was put in place, giving officers increased stop and search powers.

This order was ended at 7am on Monday and the force believes that this is an isolated incident.

Officers have now arrested an 18-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl in connection with this incident, who are currently in police custody.

Investigating officer, Sergeant Dave Woodhouse, based at Oxford police station, said: "This was a violent incident which resulted in a 16-year-old being stabbed. Fortunately, he has since been discharged from hospital.

"We have now arrested an 18-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl in connection with this incident and they are currently in police custody.

"I would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding during this time.

"People will see an increased police presence, including additional patrols, in the area over the next few days while our investigation continues.
