FIREFIGHTERS have warned drivers that the roads 'are getting busier'. 

In an alert on Facebook, Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue told motorists to take extra care after crews had 'responded to an increasing number of crashes'. 

It said: "[We] urge drivers to slow down and save lives."

Most of the incidents have been a terrible consequence of the so-called 'fatal four'.

  • not wearing a seatbelt 
  • speeding 
    • using a phone while driving
    • drink/drug driving 

Oxford Mail:

On Facebook the fire team used the hashtag 'it's not worth the risk', adding: "Always wear a seatbelt - you are more than twice as likely to die in a road traffic collision if not wearing a seatbelt.

"Never drink and drive - one in three fatal or serious injures are because of someone under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

"Reduce your speed - one in three deaths or serious injuries are because of excess or inappropriate speed.

"Don't use your phone when driving - you are four times more likelto be involved in a collision if using a mobile phone, even hands free."
