Women’s wellbeing and mental health was on the agenda this International Women’s Day at the Asian Cultural Centre in Cowley.

The Oxford Asian Cultural Association, M&A Social Enterprise teamed up with Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust to talk about mental health.

Talking about mental health in ethnic minority communities can be seen as taboo and the event aimed to break down that barrier.

The fourth year of Women Celebrating Women featured a wellbeing workshop, Bollywood karaoke, information stalls and food.

Co-founder of M&A Social Enterprise, Marian Ahmed said: “The aim is to put the spotlight on taboo topics as well as celebrate diversity and bring people together from different parts of the community.

“The birth of Women Celebrating Women was born from women of different backgrounds and ethnic minority groups celebrating individuality.”

Women from the community shared their stories and recognised the achievements and struggles of women from across the world.
